PSO/MPAS Meeting SUPA Building, Rm 200 March 12, 2015
MINUTES:
1. Movie Night this Sunday on the 3rd floor of SUPA! Bring a movie and snacks!
2. PSO/MPAS Website http://psompasuofl.wix.com/planning – overview, updates 3. Jack’s Park idea (to start next semester) a. New Directions – Kameryn to provide contacts. b. Info to be uploaded to the PSO/MPAS website.
4. Jane’s Walk Update a. Need marketing - distribute flyers b. Registration is up on the PSO/MPAS website – everyone please talk up the event and send people to the website to register!
5. Student Showcase a. Use class projects for your presentation! Easy! Do the project for class and then put it on a poster for the Showcase! b. Poster-making workshop – April 11/12 (tentative – Jacque to check with Alumni) c. Showcase – 2 weeks after finals week? Decided a Thursday would be best if we want to use the UDS. d. We will have marketing support from the school/Alumni – can use their printer to make posters.
6. Elections – start thinking about this, and how PSO/MPAS should move forward. a. Offices – President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer
7. Last PSO Meeting this semester will be Saturday, April 25th at 4:00, location TBD. Let’s make it a fun party!
8. Meeting with Dr. Simpson, 1:00pm on Friday, March 13 at UDS – time to voice constructive concerns with the program. a. Access to 3rd floor of SUPA, and the building in general. b. Varied (new) courses – special topics. c. Professor involvement and mentorship program. d. Integrate technology into courses. e. Future of UDS. f. Greater involvement with the community. g. Course prerequisites. h. Technology in the classroom. i. Overhaul of class schedule. j. Capstone should be a planning project.
9. The Urban Planning program is being accredited again, soon. Last time this happened PSO conducted a survey of students to gather their feedback on the program, and wrote a report. Is this something we want to do again? a. Jacque will send out the report to all of us for review. b. Someone needs to lead this project.
